چکیده

objectives: the gals (gait, arms, legs and spine) examination is a compact version of standard procedures used by rheumatologists to determine musculoskeletal disorders in patients. computerization of such a clinical procedure is necessary to ensure an objective evaluation. this article presents the first steps in such an approach by outlining a procedure to use motion analysis techniques as a new method for gals examination. methods: a 3d motion pattern was obtained from two subject groups using a six camera motion analysis system. the range of motion associated with gals was consequently determined using a matlab program. results: the range of motion (rom) of the two subject groups was determined, the validity of the approach was outlined, and the symmetry of movement on both sides of the body was quantified through introduction of a dependency coefficient. discussion: analysis of gals examination and diagnosis of musculoskeletal problems could be addressed more accurately and reliably by adopting motion analysis techniques. furthermore, introduction of a dependency coefficient offers a wide spectrum of prospective applications in neuromuscular studies .

Enhanced GALS Techniques for Datapath Applications

Based on a previously reported request driven technique for Globally-Asynchronous Locally-Synchronous (GALS) circuits this paper presents two significant enhancements. Firstly, the previously required local ring oscillators are avoided. Instead, an external clock with arbitrary phase for each GALS block is used. Details of the required wrapper circuitry, the proposed design flow and performance...

Using Motion Analysis Techniques for Motion Retargetting

This paper proposes a new approach for motion retargetting i.e. adjusting motion-capture data to different characters and scenes. In chaise of achieving universality, the existing retargetting techniques often become absolutely impractical for most of real-life applications. In contrast, we did not try to create a technique that can deal with practically any motion, but concentrated on creating...

Utilizing Strategic Management Accounting Techniques in Iranian Firms

The main objective of this article is to describe and explain the utilization of Strategic Management Accounting Techniques (SMATs) in Iranian various firms. For this, a survey was carried out using questionnaires provided for the seventy-five Chief Executive Officers in productive and services firms. Data gathered from respondents about the usage rate of SMATs based on the five-point Likert sc...

Computerized Motion Diagnostic Imaging

Computerized Motion Diagnostic Imaging (CMDI) Systems (Motion Diagnostics Laboratories, Hauppauge, NY) employ a dual-inclinometer and/or a long-arm goniometer and computer software to track range of motion and can allegedly estimate the percentage of impairment of the spine. However, there is a lack of evidence in the published peer-reviewed medical literature to support the usefulness of these...

Examination of fly motion vision by functional fluorescence techniques.

Over the past years, classical electrophysiological approaches to elucidate the functioning of nerve cells have been complemented by functional optical methods, in particular fluorescence imaging. This review illustrates how optical methods have proved helpful in the analysis of the neuronal principles underlying visual motion processing in the fly, a model system which allows physiological inv...
